A Study on Violence and Sexual Harassment Perceived by Volunteer Women in Elderly Housing Facilities
Kim Ji-Hyun

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine violence and sexual harassment perceived by women volunteers in elderly housing facilities. In this study, women were interviewed in three housing facilities for qualitative studies, and the results indicated that excessive intimacy and team work empowerment programs are main motives for violences and sexual harassments for the women, and it is noticeable that some women experienced such incidences during special events
where even families and neighborhoods are nearby in the facilities. As a suggestion, it is proposed that education for confronting sudden abrupt behavior problems should be intensified more for beginning female volunteers, since they tend to be more susceptible to emotional harassment resulting from the problem behaviors. It is also suggested that the combination of leisure-related activities for healthy residents and stressful intimate services for the frail residents be equally planned for the volunteer programs so that the violent situations can be dispersed and the programs reduce extremely abrupt agitations.
